Walkthroughs

Real situations, start to finish, for server staff.

1. Your first evening with Kaveh

You've just invited the bot and want a safe, sensible server.

  1. Owner: run /setup run and press Set up recommended. Read the review, then Apply. You get staff roles, a private log channel, modmail and leveling in about a minute.
  2. Run /setup status verify:true. Fix anything flagged.
  3. Run /setup welcomer if you want a welcome message, then /welcome test to preview it.
  4. Open the dashboard → Moderation & Safety. Leave automod at its defaults for now.
  5. Ask a friend to DM the bot. A private channel should appear under your modmail category. Reply with /modmail reply, then /modmail close.

You now have moderation, logging and support in place without touching anything advanced.

2. Handling a spam raid

Twenty new accounts are posting the same invite.

  1. Automod (invite blocking is on by default) is already deleting the messages and adding strikes.
  2. Ban the accounts in bulk: /mod massban with their user IDs and a reason like Raid 2026-10-16.
  3. Check Mod Actions in your logs to confirm what was removed.
  4. If more are expected, temporarily turn on link blocking: /automod config, then /automod allowdomain add for the few sites you trust.
  5. Afterwards, /mod note add on anyone you want to remember, and relax the settings again.

3. A member says they're being harassed

  1. They DM the bot. You see a new private modmail channel.
  2. /modmail priority priority:high and /modmail subscribe so you get pinged if they write again.
  3. /modmail reply message:Thank you for telling us. Can you tell us roughly when and where?
  4. Look at the evidence yourself: /mod cases member:@accused.
  5. Act: /mod mute member:@accused minutes:60 reason:Harassment report.
  6. /modmail note message:Muted 60m, case logged so the next moderator knows.
  7. /modmail anon message:We've taken action. Please tell us if it continues.
  8. /modmail close reason:Resolved, member muted.

4. A lofi night in voice chat

  1. Join a voice channel.
  2. /music radio preset:lofi. Kaveh joins and starts, and keeps the queue topped up.
  3. /music queue to see what's coming, /music skip for tracks you dislike, /music volume volume:50 if it's loud.
  4. Want something specific first? /music play query:your song here.
  5. /music stop when you're done. It clears the queue.

5. Turning on levels without spamming the chat

  1. /level toggle to enable leveling.
  2. /level announce-channel to choose where level-ups are announced, then /level announce to switch announcements on.
  3. Tune the pace: /level cooldown (longer is calmer) and /level message-length (ignore very short messages).
  4. Add a first reward: /level reward-add level:5 role:@Regular.
  5. Check progress with /level leaderboard, or /level leaderboard period:week for this week only.
  6. Keep bot channels out of it: /xp ignore-channel channel:#bot-commands.
  7. Members already past level 5 don't get the role automatically. Run /xp backfill once to catch everyone up.

Want a double-XP weekend? /xp multiplier value:2 hours:48.

6. Giving the community a voice

  1. /suggest config channel to pick a public suggestions channel, then /suggest config toggle to enable it.
  2. Members use /suggest create.
  3. Staff review with /suggest list, then /suggest status and /suggest note to respond.
  4. /suggest stats shows how the queue is doing.

7. A highlight reel with the starboard

  1. /setup starboard, or set it by hand: /starboard channel, /starboard emoji, /starboard threshold.
  2. The default threshold is 3 stars. Starring your own post doesn't count unless self-stars are allowed in the dashboard's Starboard section.
  3. /starboard status shows the current configuration.
